CAPSICUM

BACCATUM

They are domesticated peppers, whose origin is unknown, probably originate from South or Central America, where Capsicum Baccatum plants grow the most.

Latin bacca means berry,  so the berries. Plants have different stature. Some species grow compactly, other to a height of over two meters. From other species are distinguished by yellow or light brown or greenish spots on the corolla and yellow anthers. The rest of the petals are white.

There are lots of species. There are lots of species. Differ from each type of fruit, the size, colour and shape of the plant. Surprise us also a great variety of aromas and fruit. Plants are perennial and grow very rapidly. The plants deploy new flowers and fruit during the growing season.

The fruits are large and small, up to 20 cm. Initially, the plants grow erect as Capsicum Frutescens, but during ripening due to the weight of the fruit turns toward the ground. The fertility of the peppers is great. Chilli heat is at the level of Capsicum Annuum, up to 100,000 SHU. Most species reach a smaller hotness to 20,000 SHU. The period of ripening fruit is variable from 60 to 120 days.

They are suitable for outdoor growing in great pots. Cultivation is not hard. Often they are grown as annuals, but can reach ages several years. Like other peppers, they like the permeable ground, but they want a lot of water, air to the roots and a lot of direct sunlight.  They like the morning dew and tolerate frost, which reliably kill.
